Opentec was deploying superior rugged computing technologies into heavy industrial and defence  applications long before most people had even heard of a 'rugged portable computer'. Indeed, many of the design innovations we helped pioneer helped define what a 'rugged computer' is.

Today, our innovations are helping create new solutions in the areas of portable biometrics capture and verification for border security applications, wearable tactical information systems for defence and emergency services applications, and secure, long-haul wireless networking applications; as well as a range of other applications designed to add value to mobile computer users.

These innovations are allowing is to deliver unique indigenous capabilities to industrial, commercial, government and defence customers, that are simply outside the abilities of any other rugged protable supplier.

Our success is based in part on innovative product design, in part on successful collaborative developments. In either case, innovation is what's kept us in business for so long. You've probably seen, been kept safe by, or used a product made by a member of our group of companies without even realising it. That's the nature of our business. 

Did you know...

We delivered the first generation of Combat Rugged notebook PCs used by the Australian Defence Forces in battlefield roles back in 2000, after engaging with DoD to develop the first generation of ruggedised, field deployable UNIX RAID servers.

Eleven years on, we remain the preferred supplier of notebook computers for Australia's Battlefield Command & Control systems - simply because time and time again we've proven ourselves capable of delivering THE MOST RUGGED portable computers in Australia.
