C4/MISTAR launched at Land Warfare 2008:
For those looking for C4ISR solutions, Land Warfare showcased how Australian innovation is delivering more capability in smaller and less expensive packages.
At the Land Warfare Conference in Brisbane this year, Opentec and our AUSortium partners showcased how COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) and MOTS(Military Off The Shelf) products have been integrated to deliver more capability, in more compact, ruggedised, scalable and flexible packages to address a broader range of Defence, Emergency Services and Mobile Healthcare needs.
C4/MISTAR (which stands for Computer & Communications, Command & Control/Medical, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acqusition and Reconnaissance), comprises a suite of embedded computer solutions encompassing stealthed, infrastructure-less WiFi backbones, emergency event response management tools, portable embedded medical and biometric systems and advanced targetting solutions.
To show just how compact these ruggedised solutions are, we fitted our mobile test bed, ADORA The Explorer, with two solutions (emcompassing the C4 part of C4/MISTAR), namely a MAC2 and an MS4 system; as well as a newly developed portable biometrics system called TrioMetrics.
ADORA (which stands for AUSortium Developed, Opentec Ruggedised Appliances) did not require major modifications, further highlighting how easily deployable our C4/MISTAR systems are.
With elements of the C4/MISTAR system already deployed by Australia's armed forces, the new features launched at Land Warfare showcased how Australian innovation is delivering world-class solutions across a range if related field-based applications by way of embedded, computer-centric systems.
