Enhanced features announced for RPDA 5:

Opentec has recently enhanced the features available on the Openfire RPDA 5 Series with the release of a full range of on-board peripherals.

The standard approach by vendors of consumer products has been to load in as many options as possible, and keep costs down through volume sales. This limits the flexibility of those devices by compelling users to purchase add-ons they might not want and would rather not pay for. With the RPDA 5 Series, we've created an architecture that optimises flexibility by allowing customers to select only the options they need, as follows:

- Bluetooth
- Bluetooth plus WLAN
- Bluetooth plus GPRS/GSM
- Bluetooth plus GPRS/GSM plus WLAN

- WLAN
- WLAN plus GPS
- WLAN plus GPRS/GSM
- WLAN plus GPRS/GSM plus GPS

- GPS
- GPS plus Bluetooth
- GPS plus Bluetooth plus WLAN
- GPS plus GPRS/GSM
- GPS plus GPRS/GSM plus Bluetooth
- GPS plus GPRS/GSM plus Bluetooth plus WLAN

While this modular approach allows an unprecented level of flexibility, It also allows improved levels of power management and greater control over user connectivity.

With Next-G phone/data in the pipeline for an October launch, not only is the RPDA the most rugged PDA around, it's also the most versatile and most flexible.

Product sheets for the options listed above will be available online soon, but meantime, contact Opentec directly for more information.
