Coming soon: new options for RPDA 5:
In addition to the recently announced factory-fitted options for the RPDA 5, Opentec has announced a Q3 2007 release of a range of external snap-on modules that will add unprecedented flexibility for mobile users. These modules will be factory-fitted at the time of ordering, but can thereafter be removed/changed by users in the field.
Modules scheduled for release include:
Digital Compass with GPS
Accurate to one decimal place, the Digital Compass module gives heading, pitch and roll and can either present that data in a simple, easy to understand GUI, or stream to an application such as a GPS mapping application. The module is also a key element of the recently upgraded ABC (Advanced Ballistics Computer) developed jointly by Opentec and CheyTac of the USA, which is the world's most accurate ballistics forecasting system for target shooting, and which is already in service with military, police and sports shooters.
1D/2D barcode scanner with GPS
Featuring a CMOS bi-linear image sensor that will read barcodes down to 0.1mm pitch, and with a scan range of up to 90cm, the unit reads almost every type of 1D (linear style) and 2D (matrix style) barcodes, plus is able to add a GPS plot to a scan. The unit will also operate in low light conditions.
Digital Camera with GPS
Featuring a 2megapixel CMOS low light camera, the device features auto-focus, auto-flip, auto white adjustment and a flash for close-up photography.
NOTE: not retrofittable to previous model RPDA (ie Pocket PC 2003 version, discontinued late 2006)
Product sheets for the new modules will be available online as soon as the products are released. Meantime, for further information, contact Opentec directly.
