Multenet Serial-to-Ethernet Converters

Linux based Serial Converters for a range of commercial & industrial applications

View the Multenet Product Overview Brochure (382k)

Multenet Serial Converters and Routers connect equipment with serial interfaces (ie, devices with RS232, RS422, RS485 or Modbus ports), to an Ethernet network. These 'virual serial cables' network-enable serial and digital devices.

With them, equipment such as PABXs, barcode scanners, weigh scales, pH meters, ATMs or security systems can be connected to an Ethernet network, allowing one or many users to monitor, and even control, those devices - from across the room, across the factory, or even across the world!

With Multenet, the applications are largely limited by your imagination!

Some of the things you can do with a Multenet converter:

  • Network enable serial device either over local or wide area Ethernet, or via the Internet
  • Network one or many devices via Point-to-Point or Serial Routed architectures
  • Passive data-logging (ie review on demand) of serial data
  • Active monitoring of serial data and pre-programmable actioning (eg issuing auto-commands, or SMS/email notification of alarm conditions) in response to specific conditions *
  • Modbus bridging, Dial-in PPP, Dial-Out On-Demand, etc *

* Available using PocketPAD Java, or EtherPAD DUOs & DIO
