DECEMBER 2011
Following a year of R&D and field trials, Opentec is now shipping the innovative new 'Mobile Biometrics Collection Unit' (MBCU) to the Australian Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC).
Developed in partnership with global biometrics solutions provider Daon, the MBCU is unlike other transportable biometrics enrolment systems. It's not merely a collection of parts in a rugged carry case, but a fully integrated solution encompassing hardware, power management and security, as well as Daon's innovative DaonEnroll software, which provides the user interface.
Built to Industrial Rugged levels, yet weighing less than 14kg (including transport case, accessories and consumables), it's been rated as the fastest and easiest system to set up and pack down, as well as the most compact, taking up less than 0.3 sqare metres (3 square feet) when set up in situ. This makes it ideal for border patrol, disaster relief, offshore immigration processing, or any other application where the ability to operate anwhere, anytime, is essential.

TrioMetrics now Combat Rugged & wearable
SEPTEMBER 2011
The new generation TrioMetrics System is based on the recently released RPT 5 (see below), so is not only Combat Rugged and IP65 rated, but is fully wearable (can be attached to a belt or forearm pouch). Weighing less than 1kg and only 20cm wide, it features an integrated auto-iris imaging system, a high resolution capacitive fingerprint scanner and a high resolution camera with flash LEDs. An MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) OCR scanner module for reading e-passports and other appropriately formatted documents is also being developed for release in early 2012. Best of all, because it's based on a Windows 7 UMPC platform, it can operate as a tactical terminal or naviagtion device when not being used to collect biometrics and demographics data.

Opentec supplies Battlefield PCs to DoD
JULY 2011
Since 2000, Opentec has been the only company selected to supply Combat Rugged notebook PCs to the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) for their Battlefield Command & Control System (BCSS) project. And when Defence updated their entire BCSS fleet in 2011, again, Opentec was selected.
Selection was made simple by the fact that the Opentec RPC 13-M was the only rugged portable notebook computer that passed the Australian Armed Forces' rigorous and lengthy testing over a period of nearly a year. Not only did no other rugged computer make it through the trials, but no other supplier was able to resolve the vehicle mounting issues as simply and effectively as Opentec.

'FLEXkit' Mil-Rugged UGV/Robotics Control System
AUGUST 2009
THE NEW 'FLEXkit' System is a revolution in unmanned ground or marine vehicle controls. It replaces existing stand-alone radios, amplifiers and antennae to deliver the closest thing to an Unmanned Systems Common Operator Control Unit (COCU) architecture currently available.
And because it's based on our 'Military Rugged' RPC 15 notebook, it's a true 'plug-&-play' platform that's built to survive in the most extreme environments, just like the unmanned vehicles it was designed to control.

'RPDA 6' Mil-Rugged PDA with 4" LCD
Based on the RPDA 5's oustandingly durable chassis, but now with a Mobile 6 operating system PLUS optional 3G/3.5G (HSDPA/UMTS) phone/data, the RPDA 6 Series sets the standard for top-end durability and flexibility in a compact yet feature-rich format.
Also now standard is the ULTRA 'ultra-rugged' touchscreen that will resist years of impacts and abrasion, making this arguably the most rugged PDA on the market. Yet despite all this, the RPDA 6 remains competitively priced compared to less rugged commercial-grade PDAs; and very aggressively priced compared to other vendor's defence-grade PDAs. Best of all, our Sydney-based engineering team can create custom modifications and integrate with 3rd party electronics for specialised requirements.
Ideal for industrial, field service or military roles, this is one tough little customer. Perfect for handheld or vehicle applications; with belt or forearm pouches to enhance portability.
