Opentec RPT 8 Series
Super Rugged Tablet PC/UMPC

Is it a Tablet PC or a UMPC (Ultra-Miniature PC)? Call it what you like, but at under 1.8kgs and at less than 25cm wide, it's a fully fledged Core 2 Duo computer in a 'Super Rugged' chassis with an 8.4" LCD, that'll go places most tablets and UMPCs won't.

Product Overview

We pioneered deployments of miniature tablets in Australia long before the term 'UMPC' had even been coined, much in the same way we were delivering fully ruggedised notebooks before most people had ever heard of such a thing.

The RPT 8 Series delivers everything you'd expect of a compact tablet PC/UMPC, so what more could we have added to the 2009/10 models? They already feature a 1.06GHz ULV Core 2 Duo CPU, hard drive capacities up to 350Gb, optional very-high-impact-resistant SSDs (flash drives), long life, compact Li Ion battery packs, as well as an optional second (rear mounted) battery for extended field life, and optional 500NIT LED backlit LCDs for easy viewability in full summer sun, even at midday on a cloudless day.

They now include ULTRA 'ultra-rugged' touchscreens (optional on -I models, standard on -M models) which adds significantly to the durability of the touchscreen, often the weakest element of a portable, touchscreen computer. Delivering 'near ballsitics' grade ruggedness and extremely high levels of scratch resistance, the ULTRA from Interelectronix makes this Super Rugged tablet even more rugged.

Used by the Australian Navy for maritime patrol and intercept operations in small, open boats (RHIBS - Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats), and in applications such as diesel-electric locomotive control systems, it's a flexible, powerful and compact computer, designed to out-perform any 'convertible notebook' for durability; and be easily carried on one hand or mounted in a vehicle or boat.

As with our RPC range, the fan-less Magnesium-alloy chassis is based on a proven design that has been in active service in a range of rugged applications for many years; ones that other manufacturers' products have simply failed to survive in.  And it goes without saying that they far exceed MIL-STD 810F (durability) and MIL-STD 416E (emissions) requirements.

Options include GPS,  Bluetooth and WiFi, a DockLite docking station/port replicator, desktop or vehicle/boat mounting systems, LCD sunshades and protective synthetic rubber sleeves.
