We developed rugged portable computers that to this day provide national defensive capabilities.

With that kind of experience, our ability to deliver products for commercial and industrial applications goes without saying.

Commercial & Industrial ruggedisation:
Defining what standards Semi-Rugged, Vehicle Rugged & Rugged computers need to meet

To help you navigate the issues surrounding standards, what's relevant and how to determine whether the product your considering is suitable for your needs, the following guide is intended to show how we rate products suited for a general range of commercial and industrial applications.

As clearly the characteristics that would make a computer suitable for mounting in an airconditioned vehicle that only ever operated on sealed roads would be somewhat different from those that would make a computer suitable for mounting in a forklift operating in a dusty factory site with potentially corrosive atmosphere; or that would make a computer suitable for use by a field service technician in dusty, humid environments versus by a field sales representative operating in a retail environment.

And should these definitions not meet your needs, perhaps you need a SUPER RUGGED or MILITARY RUGGED computer, one field proven to out-last and out-perform everything else!

Occassional outdoor use in moderate outdoor environments; designed to survive light levels of dust & vibration for short periods; not recommended for mission critical roles or extremes of heat (above 45C) or cold (below 5C)

Occassional use in applications involving moderate levels of dust and vibration; better suited to in-vehicle use where low to moderate levels of vibration & moderate extremes of heat or cold

Frequent use in applications involving moderate to high levels of dust & vibration, or extremes of temperature or humidity; well suited to in-vehicle or outdoor use in critical roles
