BIOS Update for Pentium 2 & 3 RPCs & RPTs

NOTE: If you have purchased an ex-Australian Army Opentec 'Openfire' RPC Series II (Pentium P2 500MHz/512Mb RAM) or Series III (Pentium 3) notebook, please note the following:

1 - The BIOS (operating system) on Pentium 2 models will only recognise Hard Disc Drives (HDDs) of up to 20Gb capacity.

2 - the BIOS on Pentium 3 models will only recognise Hard Disc Drives (HDDs) of up to 40Gb capacity.

This is purely a limitation of the DOS BIOS available at the time of manufacture.

The smallest HDD drive supplied by Opentec for P2 models is currently a 40Gb HDD. As a result, when purchasing spares dives for RPC II units, please follow the procedure detailed below. This procedure is an update for the BIOS so that t will recognise the larger capacity HDD.

YES, we can still provide new HDDs and batteries for P2 and P3 models!!! For replacement drives on models you might have purchased (eg via eBay) you will also need the Windows Operating System (eg Win 95, Win 98 or Win 2K). Please contact us to check availability of older licenced versions of Windows for sale; or see your local computer dealer.
