NOTES regarding BIOS Update for Pentium 2 & 3 RPCs & RPTs
If you have purchased an ex-Australian Army Opentec 'Openfire' RPC Series 2 (with Pentium P2 500MHz/512Mb RAM) or Series 3 (Pentium 3) notebook, please note the following:
1 - The BIOS (basic operating system) on Pentium 2 models will only recognise Hard Disc Drive (HDDs) partitions of up to 20Gb.
2 - The BIOS on Pentium 3 models will only recognise Hard Disc Drive (HDDs) partitions of up to 40Gb.
This is purely a limitation of the DOS BIOS available at the time of manufacture.
The smallest ATA HDD drive supplied by Opentec for P2/P3 models is currently an 80Gb HDD. These can be formatted into multiple partitions, but partition size will be limited to 20Gb if the BIOS update is not implemented. Replacement ATA drive availability may be limited as current Series 5 RPCs and RPTs use SATA drives.
Users of older models will also need the Windows Operating System (eg Win 95, Win 98 or Win 2K) as we no longer support older OS versions.
